Carol Channing Teaches Me

This past weekend, October 1-3, 2009 I was invited to be a guest at the Rise event and Award show put on by Ellie Drake and the Braveheart Community.
If you’ll recall, a couple weeks ago I share the video of my guest appearance on Elle’s BraveHeart View TV show. If you missed it, you can see it here.
As smart marketers, Elle and her husband Charlie Drake invited several celebrities to be on panel conversations as well as recipients of several of the awards given out Saturday night.
Marketing Tidbit: The marketing strategy of using celebs to drive marketing has been going on for decades. In fact little known fact, The Horatio Alger awards, started in 1947 by Norman Vincent Peale, was created in a sense to gain access to celebs by giving them awards in order to feature them in his magazine Guideposts. The fact the awards grew into a distinguished honor that supports underprivileged kids is a major bonus. But I digress…
At the Rise Awards were several notable celebs including Courtney Cox, Loni Anderson, Delta Burke, Meshach Taylor (co-star from Designing Women) Frances Fisher, Stephanie Powers, Les Brown (the motivational speaker not the band leader), BrandU members Rev. Michael Beckwith & Ricki Byers-Beckwith, and several others. But the one who stood out to me is non other than the amazing Carol Channing and her husband Harry Kullijian.
While I was growing up, Carol was one of those entertainers who was part of the daily fabric of talk shows and celebrity goings-on. She is most associated with staring in Hello Dolly (stage & screen) and for singing Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend. I remember her being lit up from within, effervescent before I even knew what that meant.
Every time I saw her whether is was in a magazine, on a talk show, or starring in a role just—watching her made me feel uplifted—if only for the moment that she captivated me.
Well, after seeing her in person, at 88 years, I have to tell you Carol Channing has still got it! She might even have yours and everyone on your block as well.
Her joy and exuberance for life fills up the entire room and leaves you feeling renewed, uplifted, and wanting more of it….of her. Simply amazing!
After a lifetime of being a famous performer, she has certainly done quite well for herself financially, but even so she and her husband have started a foundation to support keeping the arts alive in California schools alive. Learn why this is so important and how it can help schools where you live too.
In a mere ten minutes, Carol Channing reminded me not only of why I’m in business to support you and conscious entrepreneurs all around the world to grow their business but also why I’m alive on the planet at this time—to lift the hearts of people and remind them of the amazing gift it is to be alive. The odd part is, I didn’t even know that I had forgotten that.
Most people who meet me would certainly not know that, but standing next her and feeling the energy pulsing off her very presence I admit, through the challenges of what it takes to thrive today, I have let some of my own light dwindle.
But I tell you…it’s all back in full beam!
So fasten your seat belts, and grab your tickets, and thank you for being a part of this ride.

RISE With Me in Oct

I don’t know about you but I’ve grown so tired of those massive speaker events, filled with mostly guys, that talk my head off, and I’m left feeling that all I want when I leave is a hug. (Even when I’m speaking at them.)
Honestly, that’s why I’ve only attended three events total in the last three years—and two of them were ours. And as a speaker, that’s not a good thing!
I simply got tired of the stale energy that rob me of my precious fuel. Know what I mean?
Yet, I miss the buzz of the energy when that many amazing people are brought together in one place, for several days with no interruptions, gathered together for one reason—transformation. In fact, I crave it.
I also love the connections that I make while I’m there. That’s why I’m super excited to share with you that I’m attending this incredible event, created for and by incredible women this October in Los Angeles. And I know you’ll what to join me.
Here’s how…
I recently had the privilege to be a guest on a brand new TV show called A Braveheart View. It’s a fully produced inspiring TV talk show for women delivered on the an internet. This show is produced and host by BraveHeart Community founder Ellie Drake—she has such a big heart…and even bigger vision. I love how she plays the game! We really hit it off on the show.
In fact, watch for a separate blog post with a link to watch the episode of my interview. I’d love to hear what you think.
Ellie and the producers of the show are throwing a one of a kind, LIVE event that we’ve been asking for…filled with hope, prosperity, fun… not to mention more business ops, connections and even personal exploration.
It’s called RISE, it’s happening this October 2-4th in Los Angeles. I’ll be there with bells…and probably leopard print on. Won’t you join me?
RISE is a charter event designed to connect like-minded women in a face-to-face learning & spiritual environment. Now listen closely my incredible, brilliant entrepreneur ladies out there (and guys too)…
By joining me at this Los Angeles event in October, you’ll meet celebrity speakers like Mariel Hemingway, Maya Angelou, Courtney Cox (from TV show Friends), Kim Kiyosaki, Rev. Michael Beckwith, Carol Channing, Delta Burke, and so many more.
And if that list doesn’t impress you, then read more…
Unlike many events you may have been roped into going to so you could “learn,” RISE is a NO-PITCH ZONE where speakers are really there to help; and with the amazing women (and “evolved men”) already signed up to attend, you could very well meet your very next business partner!
Also, for those looking to calm, center and fuel your soul… they’ve got that there too. You’ll participate in fulfilling spiritual rituals like the Grand Drumming Session, BraveHeart Song & Dance, Laughing Yoga, Transformational Breathing, and more. (I have wanted to do laughing yoga since I saw it on the news several years ago. I’m so excited to finally experience it.
I hope you’ll join me in October for what will be a truly empowering and transformational 2 1/2 days. You won’t believe how reasonable it is. Get the details HERE.
Plus, once you get your ticket, email me at Kim@BrandU.com. I’m putting together a special get together for PowerPlay subscribers at the event so that we can get to know each other.
Get your Rise ticket today, before the event fills up, and I’ll see you there!
